Applications for Melt Pumps
Not all polymer extrusion lines need to be equipped with melt pumps, but in production scenarios that demand extremely high stability in pressure and flow rate, the difference in process precision and product quality before and after installing a melt pump is extremely significant. It is a key configuration for improving quality and efficiency. The core applications are as follows:

Film Extrusion (Cast Film, Blown Film)
Film products demand strict thickness precision; even a pressure fluctuation of just 0.5 MPa can cause thickness deviations to exceed acceptable limits. Installing a melt pump ensures precise and stable discharge pressure, significantly improving film thickness uniformity and guaranteeing product yield.
Chemical Fiber Spinning
The spinning process is highly sensitive to melt flow rate precision; pressure fluctuations can directly lead to critical issues such as fiber breakage and uneven denier. The precise metering capability of melt pumps is essential for ensuring the continuous and stable operation of synthetic fiber production lines and improving fiber quality.
Sheet/Plate Extrusion
Uneven thickness is the most common quality defect in sheets and plates, stemming from output imbalances caused by fluctuations in extrusion pressure. By stabilizing pressure and flow with a melt pump, product thickness consistency can be significantly improved, thereby enhancing the quality of the finished product.

Pelletizing (Underwater Cutting, Strangling)
Although pelletizing has lower requirements for surface finish, unstable pressure can easily cause issues such as inconsistent particle size, agglomeration, and tailing, which directly affect suitability for downstream processing. Melt pumps can stabilize the discharge rate and effectively improve particle uniformity.
Polymerization Production Lines
The flow rate and pressure of the melt discharged from polymerization reactors fluctuate significantly. Relying on melt pumps for pressurization and precise metering is essential to provide a stable melt supply to downstream processes and ensure continuous and stable operation of the entire production line.

Recycled Material / Filler Addition Production
In these scenarios, material compositions are complex and flow characteristics fluctuate significantly, making it difficult for extruders to achieve stable output. The melt pump’s ability to stabilize pressure and flow is even more critical than in conventional applications, effectively improving the discharge stability of complex materials.
